I haven't read all the transcripts and, in fact, just printed up the Wynton Marsalis interview. He talked so much during the series that I figured I had a pretty good idea of his attitudes and, quite frankly, I just wasn't up to more Wynton. The other interviews I read are very interesting, however. I wasn't too happy with the use of Matt Glaser to describe Armstrong's music, but I have a more favorable opinion of him since reading the whole interview, plus he was a very likeable participant in the Jazz Journalists' Louis forum, held Feb. 2 (check out www.jazzhouse.org). It's clear to me now that he has loved Louis' music for many years. I still think he over-analyzes the music, but his enthusiasm is sincere and he knows more about early jazz than I had originally thought.
